Your Interpreter
Kentucky Certified Court Interpreter with 21 years of Spanish-English interpretation experience — serving law firms, medical offices, and local businesses in Louisville and beyond.
Hello, I'm Patricia Acosta Schumann
I am a Spanish interpreter with more than 20 years of experience helping people communicate clearly and confidently across language barriers. My professional background began in the court system, where I learned how important it is for every person to be heard and understood — especially in high-stakes situations.
Interestingly, I became a court interpreter almost by accident. Although I earned my degree in Computer Information Systems from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, my path eventually led me into language access work. Over time, I discovered that interpreting was not only a profession, but also a way to serve people in moments when communication matters most.
Since then, I have spent years interpreting in legal settings and supporting language access efforts with professionalism, accuracy, and care. My experience has taught me how to stay calm under pressure, listen closely, and communicate meaning faithfully between Spanish and English.
Today, I am expanding my services beyond the courtroom to help businesses, professionals, and individuals who need reliable Spanish-English interpretation. My goal is simple: to make communication easier, smoother, and more human.

Zoom Simultaneous Interpretation for Offices
A smarter, faster way to serve your Spanish-speaking clients during Zoom meetings — at no extra charge. Read on to learn how it works, then contact me to set it up for your office.
What Is Simultaneous Interpretation?
I speak almost at the same time as your meeting — so nothing slows down.
In a standard interpretation session, I work in consecutive mode — the English speaker talks, then pauses, I interpret into Spanish, then the conversation continues. It works well, but it takes more time because every exchange is doubled.
With Zoom Simultaneous Interpretation (SIMO), I interpret in real time as the conversation happens. Your Spanish-speaking client hears my interpretation through their own private audio channel on their device — quietly, without interrupting the English conversation at all.
The result: Your meeting flows at a completely natural pace. Less time. Less back-and-forth. A more comfortable experience for everyone — and since my rate is by the hour, a shorter meeting can mean a lower bill.
No Extra Charge for This Feature
Zoom SIMO is available at the same rate as any remote session — $80/hour, 2-hour minimum. I handle all the technical setup on my end. You just need to know how to join. That's what this page is for.
The One Thing You Need to Know
For simultaneous interpretation to work on Zoom, your English-speaking staff and your Spanish-speaking client must each join the meeting from their own separate device. This is how each person receives their own language channel. Here is when that matters — and when it doesn't.
Scenario A — Different Locations
Everyone Is Calling In Separately
Your attorney is at the office. Your Spanish-speaking client is calling from home or another location. Each person is already on their own device.
✅ No extra setup needed. Everyone just joins your Zoom meeting link as usual. I handle the rest.
Scenario B — Same Room
Both People Are in Your Office
Your attorney and your Spanish-speaking client are sitting together in the same room. In this case, they need to join from two separate devices so each can receive their own audio channel.
⚠️ Two devices required. See the easy setup guide below.
Same-Room Setup Guide
When Your Client Is In Your Office
This is simpler than it sounds. Most offices already have everything they need. Here's the ideal setup:
Attorney / Staff Device
The English-speaking attorney or staff member joins the Zoom meeting from their office computer or laptop as they normally would. No changes needed on their end.
Spanish-Speaking Client Device
The Spanish-speaking client joins the same Zoom meeting from a second device — their own smartphone works perfectly. A tablet or a second office computer also works great.
Client Puts on a Headset
The Spanish-speaking client should wear earbuds or a headset connected to their device. This lets them hear my Spanish interpretation quietly and privately, without it playing out loud in the room.
Select the Spanish Channel
Once in the Zoom meeting, the Spanish-speaking client taps the globe icon in Zoom and selects "Spanish" as their language. They will now hear my interpretation in real time through their earpiece.
💡 Pro tip: Most offices have everything already — a computer for the attorney and a spare phone, tablet, or laptop for the client. No special equipment purchase needed. If your Spanish-speaking client has a smartphone, that is all they need to bring.
Demo Video Coming Soon
A short video walkthrough showing exactly how this setup works will be added here.
Consecutive vs. Simultaneous — What's the Difference?
| Consecutive (Standard) | Simultaneous (SIMO) | |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | Speaker pauses · I interpret · Speaker continues | I interpret in real time as the speaker talks |
| Meeting pace | Slower — every exchange is doubled | Natural — conversation flows without pausing |
| Extra setup | None — just join the Zoom link | Two devices if both parties are in the same room |
| Best for | Any remote session, quick calls | Longer consultations, office visits, sensitive meetings |
| Rate | $80/hour · 1-hour minimum | $80/hour · 1-hour minimum (same rate) |
